The Brain - A Fun Exercise with Color

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

TRY THIS:

Grab 8 color markers and an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Write the following words in all capitals. Write each word in a different color than the word it describes. For example write the BLACK in any color but black and so on until all the color words are written down several times.

BLACK    YELLOW    GREEN    BROWN

ORANGE   BLUE   PURPLE   RED

BLACK PINK GREEN ORANGE RED

Turn the paper over, let your eyes rest for a few seconds, then turn the paper back over.

NOW.......SAY THE COLOR NOT THE WORD!

Having trouble staying focused? Your reasoning mind is trying to make you say the word and ignore the color even though you consciously know what the instructions are!!

Why? Your reasoning mind is used to reading the words, not the colors. You have to keep telling your reasoning mind to say the color not the word. Your reasoning mind executes your speech pattern and talks for you, therefore you must make it obey you.

Pretty cool yes?!? You are not your mind. Your job is not to obey your mind. Your mind must obey YOU. It MUST do what YOU tell it to do.

You are the master...... not your mind.
